Kath has 42 years local government service with 8+ years’ experience as a Local Authority Chief Executive, in two different Unitary/Met local authorities.

Through her roles as a Chief Executive Kath led significant improvement, modernisation and transformation journeys including the development of a shared vision, establishing and ensuring effective governance arrangements, the development of strong cross-organisational and partnership relationships, the delivery of significant performance improvements and the embedding of an organisation culture that supports and empowers staff and enables successful in house and multi-agency working.

Since her ‘retirement’ from her Chief Executive role last year, she now has a ‘portfolio career’ including the voluntary role as Solace Group Board Chair (Society of Local Authority Chief Executives) and roles as an advisor and consultant to the sector, Independent Chair for 2 x ASC Improvement Boards; Technical Assessments for Chief Executive /Chief Officer recruitment; Exec Coaching; Peer Reviews; Development work with elected members, together with sector related project work.

Kath has a positive national profile including as a conference & podcast speaker, judge for national awards, lead for LGA Peer Reviews and Solace Spokesperson roles. She has a national reputation as an experienced, effective, passionate and authentic leader.

Kath has a real passion for creating positive organisational cultures; supporting and developing others; developing the sector; sharing learning and supporting improvement.
